HSFF’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the historic properties and diverse cultural heritage of the Santa Fe area, and to educate the public about Santa Fe's history and the importance of preservation.

Historic Santa Fe Foundation archives materials that have enduring historical value. They make these resources available to both the public and professional researchers and collect and store items associated with the history, cultural heritage, landmarks, infrastructure, and the natural and built environments of Santa Fe. This includes a variety of donated materials and is not limited to printed documents, photographs, architectural records, audio recordings, and electronic media. HSFF uses these items to assist property owners, professional researchers, and interested parties in studying the various historical aspects of Santa Fe.
